
Tokyo: Tibet House Japan successfully concluded the three-month Saturday Tibetan language and cultural class on 25 October 2025. The annual three-month class was designed to teach the Tibetan language and introduce Tibetan history, culture, and religion to Japanese and other community members interested in Tibetan studies.
The class was mostly conducted online, and students from different prefectures attended and participated in the conversation, reading, and writing classes. The students were introduced to the basic Tibetan conversation drill and to the Tibetan alphabet, vowels, and a part of the sumchupa grammar.
At the closing session, Representative Dr. Tsewang Gyalpo Arya thanked the participants and expressed his appreciation for the participants’ enthusiasm and commitment to learn the Tibetan language. He congratulated those who met the attendance requirements to receive a certificate of completion and offered guidance on continuing their studies independently.
Tashi Yangzom and Tselha of the Tibet House Japan took most of the classes with occasional appearance by Representative Arya. The participants shared their experiences and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to study Tibetan culture and language. Some participants expressed a wish to visit Dharamshala to further deepen their understanding of the Tibetan language and culture. They appreciated the short discourses on Tibetan Buddhism and meditational practice.
