
Hunsur: Chief Election Commissioner Lobsang Yeshi, accompanied by Additional Secretary Tenzin Norbu from the Election Commission, conducted a series of public awareness talks for Tibetan residents and monastic communities at the Rabgyeling Tibetan Settlement in Hunsur on 20 and 21 October 2025.
The visit aimed to raise awareness about the forthcoming 2026 Sikyong and 18th Tibetan Parliamentary elections. On the morning of 20 October, the duo convened a public session at the settlement’s community hall to explain election rules and regulations, while stressing the importance of informed and active participation in the democratic process. The session was attended by Tibetan Settlement Officer Norbu Tsering, Local Tibetan Assembly President Dawa Tenzin, and representatives from regional Tibetan civil society organisations.
That afternoon, an internal meeting was held at the Tibetan Settlement Office with regional election officers.
In the evening, a separate awareness talk was held for monks of Gyumed Tantric University and Ugyenling Monastery, in the presence of Gyumed Abbot Geshe Ngawang Sangye and Settlement Officer Norbu Tsering.
On 21 October, the Chief Election Commissioner and his aide visited Dzongchoe Monastery to conduct another awareness session with the monastic community. This session was attended by Dzongchoe Monastery Abbot Thupten Tsering and Settlement Officer Norbu Tsering.
