Vienna: On the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, marked on 1 October 2025, around 50 Tibetans and Chinese activists in Austria jointly staged a peaceful protest in front of the Chinese Embassy office in Vienna.
Organised by the Tibetan Community in Austria, the demonstration called on the Chinese government to respect religious freedom and uphold the rights of Tibetans inside Tibet. Participants chanted slogans highlighting these demands throughout the event.
Among those in attendance were members of the Chinese democratic activists, Chinese Christian communities, the Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group (V-TAG), and local Tibetan residents.
The Tibetan community in Austria holds this annual protest on 1 October to coincide with China’s national day, drawing attention to ongoing human rights concerns in Tibet.
