DHARAMSHALA: His Holiness the Dalai Lama left Dharamsala yesterday for a two-week long visit to New Zealand and Australia.The
first leg of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s journey will take him to New
Zealand where he will participate in the memorial service for the
victims of earthquake in Christchurch. A 6.3-magnitude earthquake
struck Christchurch on 22 February this year, which left nearly 181
people dead.The second leg of the journey takes him to Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.In
all these cities His Holiness will give public talks, open new
Vietnamese Buddhist Centre, give extensive interviews to the Australian
media, meet with Tibetan and Mongolian Buddhist communities and give
teachings on the Boddhisattva’s Way of Life’ by Shantideva. He will
also meet with the Chinese community organised by the Chinese/Tibetan
Friendship Group and hold private meetings with Australian members of
the Parliament.In Canberra, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will
meet with the Australian Parliamentary Group for Tibet. His Holiness
will also be hosted a reception by the Australian Paramilitary Group
for Tibet in the presence of members of parliament, senators and the
diplomatic corp present in Canberra.In Brisbane, His Holiness
will participate in an event titled “A conversation with the Dalai Lama
– Values in Leadership, Environmental Thinking and the Action Required”.Later,
His Holiness will also participate in a discussion on “ A Conversation
with the Dalai Lama on Happiness Life and Living – Finding Happiness on
Life’s Journey and Overcoming Loss”.
