
Leh, Ladakh: Following its exhibition in Zanskar, The Tibet Museum of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), continued its travelling exhibition, showcasing the Biography of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama across various locations in and around Leh from 26 July to 2 August 2025.
The exhibition commenced on 26 July at the Chief Representative Office Campus, Choglamsar, Leh. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Thiksey Rinpoche, along with Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Security Kalon (Minister) Dolma Gyari, and Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) Kalon Norzin Dolma.
On 27 July, the exhibition remained at the CRO Campus and was presented to the Czech President, Petr Pavel. The President’s visit marked a historic moment as it was his first official visit to Ladakh. The Tibet Museum team had the honour of guiding him through the exhibition.
In the following two and a half days, the exhibition was held in collaboration with the Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation (LAMO), located below the historic Leh Palace. The exhibition was visited by residents, tourists, and students from Nubra Valley. Also special screening of a documentary on the life of His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama was held at Rabsel Hall, followed by an engaging public Q&A session. The event was a great success, receiving enthusiastic responses from attendees.
On the afternoon of 30 July, the exhibition was relocated to the Leh Main Market, where it drew a wide array of visitors from diverse backgrounds. On 31 July, The Tibet Museum collaborated with the Ladakh Writers Club for a special event featuring an open reading of Chapter 10 from “Voice for the Voiceless”, a book authored by His Holiness.
On 1 and 2 August, the exhibition was installed at the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (CIBS), where it was warmly received by both students and faculty. On the final day of the 20-day travelling exhibition, it concluded with a documentary screening in the Institute’s auditorium, attended by over 100 students and faculty members.
During the 8 day travelling exhibition in and around Leh, The Tibet Museum welcomed over 500 visitors from diverse backgrounds. Notable guests included Kyabje Thiksey Rinpoche for a guided tour and historic visit from the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, accompanied by members of the Czech Embassy.
