
Spain: On 5 July 2025, a day ahead of the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Community Association of Spain, jointly with Casa del Tibet, provided a food offering for approximately 350 needy individuals through the Mother Teresa charity in Barcelona (Missionaries of Charity).
On 6 July 2025, on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday (Ghoton), held at Auditorium L’illa hall from 11:00 a.m. onwards, organised by the Tibetan Community Association of Spain with the support of Casa del Tibet in Spain. Representatives from eight religious traditions offered speeches and prayers for the long life of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, focusing on His Holiness’s second commitment (religious harmony) and world peace, lasting for about one hour.
The main guests included Ramon Bassas, Director General of the Department of Religious Affairs of the Government, and Ivan Pera, representative of the District Governor. Both attended as guests and delivered speeches, extending greetings to His Holiness.
At around 12:30 p.m., renowned doctor Dr. Manuel Sans Segarra and Parliamentarian Ven. Thubten Wangchen, founder of the Tibet House Foundation in Barcelona, engaged in an hour-long discussion on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s contributions, his four principal commitments, world peace, past and future lives, and various other topics. The lively discussion proved beneficial for the attendees.
Following this, Dr. Manuel Sans Segarra and European Tibetan Parliament member Thubten Wangchen led birthday songs for His Holiness, and free ceremonial fruits, sweets, and cold drinks were distributed to all attendees.
Around 4:30 p.m., in commemoration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s contributions and compassion, representatives from the Tibetan Associations of Nepal, India, Kalmykia, and Buryatia presented various 18 cultural performances. Followed by performances from renowned local artists Pep Sala, Big Mama Montse, and illusionist Magic Andreu. Ceremonial scarves were offered to all guests and performers as a gesture of gratitude, and the program concluded with the singing of the Tibetan national anthem.
On 7 July 2025, a day after the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Community Association of Spain and Casa del Tibet jointly offered lunch to approximately 150 needy individuals at the Christian organisation Sant Anna, in honour of His Holiness.
Additionally, since the beginning of this month, two large public buses in the Spanish capital have displayed birthday greetings for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday, along with his teaching: “The purpose of our lives is to be happy,” offering widespread public outreach.
