Puruwala: On 6 July 2025, the Tibetan residents of Sakya Puruwala Tibetan Settlement gathered at the community hall, joined by the local dignitaries to celebrate His Holiness’ 90th Birthday. At 9:30 AM, the celebration began with the arrival of our chief guests, Sarwala Pradhan Prem Singh ji and Gorkhuwala Pradhan Surekha Ji, and special guest Ramesh Kumar, a member of the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society also former pradhan of Gorkhuwala.
The ceremony began with the installation of His Holiness portrait and was followed by the reading of official statements from Kashag, delivered by Settlement Officer Tenzin Namgyal and another from the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, read by Tsering Pema, a member of the Local Tibetan Assembly.
Our special guest, Ramesh Kumar, gave a speech to the audience related to the event, followed by TSO Tenzin Namgyal presenting mementoes to the dignitaries (a wall hanging with His Holiness’s quotation in both English and Hindi). An exhibition showcasing the biography of His Holiness was displayed for the public and dignitaries.
The program concluded with the variant cultural performances by Sambhota Tibetan School students and from RTYC and RTWA.
Around 2 pm, TSO with the president of RTYC and RTWA, dry rations and plastic sheets to shield the homeless from the monsoon, celebrated His Holiness the 14th Dalai lama’s 90th Birthday. Following this, 113 fish were also set free in a river celebrating His Holiness birthday.
