DEHRADUN: The Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration has been organising “Early Grade Reading Workshops” since 2014 in its efforts to improve  early aged children’s academic learning and intellectual development. This endeavor has been done in accordance with the recommendation of Education Advisory Committee meeting held in June, 2013.

The 5th batch of EGR Workshop for five days is being held at Songtsen Library, Near Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement from 14 March for Dehradun cluster of schools. There were 27 participants from Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society (STSS), Central Tibetan Schools Administration (CTSA), Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF), TNMF School and Mr. Tashi Dhondup, Director, SEH as a special invitee. Mr. Namgyal Yemphel, Principal, STS Paonta and Mrs. Tsering Palmo, Headmistress, STS Dekyiling is also participating in this workshop.

Dr. Latika Gupta from Central Institute of Education, Delhi University, is the subject expert conducting these workshops. Till date, the education department has organised five batches of EGR workshops for 150 PRTs of Tibetan Schools all over.

This workshop is funded by the USAID through The Tibet Fund.
