
BOSTON: Kalon Ngodup Tsering of the Department of Education today visited the Tibetan community in Boston today.
The Education Kalon visited Boston Sunday Tibetan school hosted a welcome reception at Medford high school, where he met over 60 students, executive members of Tibetan Association Boston, and volunteer teachers. He visited each classes and interacted with the students while spreading the message on importance of learning the Tibetan language. He also convened a separate meeting for the school teachers who were serving as volunteers and welcomed their ideas to improve the quality of Tibetan language school.
After school teachers’ meeting, Kalon Ngodup Tsering attended the public meeting where Mr Kelsang Phuntsok, president of the Tibetan Association Boston, presented an annual report on the Tibetan community. Mr Tenzin Ngodup of Boston Tibetan Parents Association presented a report on Sunday school and children. The Sunday school not only organises Tibetan language classes, but also strive on promoting Tibetan unique culture and tradition values with the help of local cultural committee formed by volunteers from former members of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts. Addressing the gathering, Kalon Ngodup Tsering spoke on the 14th Kashag’s policy on education and on-going programmes. He emphasised the importance of education, especially study of Tibetan language and the role of parents. He also spoke on current issues concerning Tibet and the Middle Way Policy. He expressed his deep concern towards Dhogyal issue and their propaganda. A question and answer session was held with an active participation from the general public. Later in evening, a dinner reception was hosted in honour of his visit.
