
ZURICH: Ms. Dicki Chhoyang, Kalon for the Department of Information and International Relations, arrived in Zurich, Switzerland, on 21 February, to participate in the 7th Geneva Summit at the invitation of the Tibetan Women’s Organisation of Switzerland. The Geneva Summit was scheduled on 24 February.
Kalon Dicki Chhoyang was welcomed on her arrival at Zurich airport by Representatives from the Switzerland Tibetan Women’s Organisation with traditional Tibetan ceremonial scarves. Others present at the welcome reception include Mr. Dawa Tsultrim from the Geneva Office of Tibet and Ms. Tenzin Dechen Yungdung, President, Tibetan Youth Association of Europe.
Kalon Dicki Chhoyang, visited the Zentrum Karl das Gasse in old Zurich the next day, to give a talk to Tibetan youngsters on “Bringing the Tibetan Movement Forward: The Role of Youth”. The program was organised by the Tibetan Youth Association of Europe.
The program started with a welcome note by Mr. Gejey Nelung, Board Member of TYAE, who gave the introductory remarks.
Kalon Dicki Chhoyang, in her address, spoke about the importance of such gatherings to discuss the issue of Tibet and the sustenance of Tibet’s cultural heritage. She explained that, since many Tibetan youths are born and brought up in Europe and the West, meeting Tibetan youths during her visits have always been a priority so that these youths understand the issue of Tibet and the increasing relevance of the Central Tibetan Administration in the Tibetan movement.
DIIR Kalon also recounted her own experiences of working in the Central Tibetan Administration and the initial problems she faced as a novice to the structure and system of the Administration.
Kalon Dicki Chhoyang appealed to the Tibetan youth in the west to take more interest in Tibetan culture particularly Tibetan language, and explore opportunities to contribute in whatever ways to the Central Tibetan Administration.
The talk was followed by a question-answer session with the audience, and a vote of thanks by Ms. Tenzin Dechen Yungdung, President of TYAE.
