
NEW DELHI: The Core Group for Tibetan Cause, in collaboration with India-Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO), organised a prayer service to express condolence at the passing away of Shri. Kul Bhushan Bakshi who died on 12 January 2015 . The prayer service was held at Gandhi Peace Foundation on Tuesday, 27 January 2015.
The program started with Buddhist chantings by monks of Drepung Loseling monastery and offering of flowers and Khatags, traditional Tibetan scarves, on his portrait.
More than 100 people comprising of his family, friends & relatives, Core Group members, Tibetan supporters and Tibetan representatives from different offices in Delhi including Tibetan Parliamentarians, attended the prayer service.
Former Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, who was present during the function, stated that Shri. Bakshi was an ardent Tibet supporter and a close friend of his for the last more than 40 years. He also shared that in their long association, he found Shri. Bakshi ji – a man of distinguished quality living by the virtues of the great Indian tradition. Rinpoche narrated an incident during Shri Bakshi ji’s posting as Director of Khadigaram Udyog at Dalhousie. Mrs. Bakshi, during that occasion, wished to take the small daughters to an ancient Hindu temple 12 kms from the small Himalayan town. Knowing this, Shri Bakshi ji asked his wife to get a receipt from his office paying 24kms (to and fro) fare as per rule and only then take his office car. Such was the reflection of Shri.Bakshi ji’s personality.
Dr. N. K. Trikha, National Convener of Core Group for Tibetan Cause, India, said that his association with Bakshi ji for all these years during which he found Bakshi ji as a selfless man who stood for the justice of Tibetan people in their freedom struggle and was always there to help the underprivileged sections of society.
Other dignitaries who spoke on the occasion are Smt. Anshu Sahi, daughter of Shri. Bakshi, Prof. Anand Kumar, Adv. J.P. Sharma, Shri. Vijay Kranti, Shri Surendar Kumar, Dr. D. K. Pal, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok & Shri. Dhiraj Kumar.
The program concluded with a two-minute silence as a mark of gratitude for all his contribution towards humanity in general and the Tibetan cause in particular.
