His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit Hungary this month during which
he will deliver public teachings and receive the honourary citizenship
of Budapest.His Holiness will give a teaching on ‘An
Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism’ at Papp László Budapest Sport Arena,
on 18 September. On the next day he will confer an ‘Avalokiteshvera
Initiation’. The City of Budapest will confer its honourary citizenship award on His Holiness the Dalai Lama. “We
are extremely happy that the General Assembly of the City of Budapest
has unanimously voted on 26 August to award His Holiness the Dalai Lama
the prestigious Honorary Citizenship. We would like to express our
gratitude to the General Assembly of the City of Budapest,” the
Hungarian Buddhist Community which is organising His Holiness’ visit
said.The organisers said that the tickets for the two days
Buddhist teachings and public talk by His Holiness the Dalai Lama are
completely sold out. We are excited by the tremendous public interest
and support in His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his message of love,
kindness and compassion.About 22,400 tickets have been sold which exceeds the venue’s daily seating capacity of 11,200.People
from 32 countries have booked their tickets to attend the two-day
event. Just 10% of the ticket buyers are Buddhists, so 90% of the
attendees are coming to hear His Holiness regardless of their religion
or beliefs, the organisers said.The organising committee will
provide live webcast of His Holiness’ teachings at www.esoguru.com for
a large number of people who could not get tickets. “The
webcast will be interactive as the visitors can chat and instantly
comment on what they see and what they hear. This will be a truly
unique community event,” said Dr. Jeno Torocsik, founder of EsoGuru.com.This will be His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s seventh visit to Hungary. The first visit was nearly thirty years ago in 1982.
