Dharamshala: Photos
depicting the Tibetan people’s journey into exile and their long look
towards homeland were showcased during a day-long exhibition in the
South Indian city of Mysore on 5 September.The exhibition was
organised by the Tibet Museum of the Central Tibetan Administration in
association with Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society, Mysore. After
welcoming the guests, Captain H. Rajagopal (Retd) President of Indo
Tibetan Friendship Society, Mysore, opened the photo exhibition.

In his
opening remarks as the chief guest, Mr G Madhusudhan, Member of State
Legislative Council, spoke at length about the Chinese government’s
repression in Tibet and the Tibetan people’s peaceful struggle for
justice and freedom.Other dignitaries present at the inaugural
ceremony included Mr R. Vasudevamurthy, President of Mahajane Education
Society as well as chairman of South Zone Tibet Support Group and Mr
P.K. Devaiah, Co-convener, Southern Region Core Group for Tibetan
Cause. More than 300 local Indian residents, Tibetans, foreigners and media personnel visited the exhibition.A
total of 60 panels were exhibited, portraying life of Tibetans in
exile, destruction of Tibet’s cultural and environment under the
Chinese government and dangerous flight of Tibetan refugees across the
Himalaya to seek freedom and blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama
in India. The exhibition was held to thank the Indian
government and its people for their generous support for the last 50
years and to mark the achievements of Tibetans in exile under His
Holiness the Dalai Lama’s leadership in building sustainable
establishment such as settlements, schools, hospitals and monasteries.
It also aims to create awareness among Tibetans as well as Indian
communities about the issue of Tibet. The travelling exhibition team of Tibet Museum will exhibit at Kollegal Dhondenling Tibetan Settlement on 8 and 9 September.
