
Paris, 9 December: Leaving Paris early in the morning, Kalon Dicki Chhoyang of the Department of Information and International Relations, Central Tibetan Administration, embarked on her first ever visit to Grenoble city in France’s South-east region of Rhone Alpes.
Kalon Dicki Chhoyang was, on her arrival at the Grenoble city railway station, warmly received by around 20 members of local Tibet support groups from Grenoble city and Rhone Alpes region, along with representatives from the City Council.
Later in the afternoon, Kalon Dicki Chhoyang was received by the Mayor of Grenoble city, Mr. Eric Piolle at his office in the city hall.
During their hour-long meeting, Kalon Dicki Chhoyang sought the attention of the Mayor on the deteriorating human rights situation and environmental dangers posed by the PRC government’s policies in Tibet. The two leaders discussed on the ways to promote and create awareness about the policy of Middle Way Approach and Tibet’s ecology among the city’s population to garner popular support and actions aimed at peaceful resolution of the Tibet issue.
Kalon Dicki Chhoyang also met and spoke to the members of local Tibet supporters. She urged them to consult and understand the deeper aspects of the Memorandum on Genuine Autonomy for Tibetan people which explains the fundamental aspirations of the Tibetan people and forms the basis of Middle Way Approach policy.
Before wrapping up her day’s programme in Grenoble, Kalon Dicki Chhoyang gave a public conference to a packed audience of over one hundred local Frenchmen. She talked on the topic “ Middle Way Approach – A peaceful conflict resolution for the 21st Century”, at the La Maison de l’International hall. The talk was followed by a question and answer session.
Kalon Dicki Chhoyang will, on her last day in France, attend the 25th anniversary celebration of the conferment of the Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Paris tomorrow. She is also scheduled to meet with the members of Tibet Group in the French lower house, the National Assembly.
