Tibet Museum Starts Traveling Exhibition in Southern India from Bangalore

The Tibet Museum of Department of Information and International
Relations (DIIR) started its first leg of traveling photo exhibition
titled “Journey into Exile” and “Long Look Homeward” in Southern India
from Bangalore on 25 August 2010.

At
around 11 AM, honourable chief guest Mr Roshan Baig, Member of
Legislative Assembly (MLA), Bangalore, an ardent supporter of Tibetans
in Karnataka State, inaugurated the exhibition. Mr Tashi Phuntsok,
Chief Representative Officer of South India, welcomed the chief guest
and other distinguished guests. This was followed by speeches by Mr
Roshan Baig, MLA, Mr Suresh Heblikar, environmentalist and actor, and
Mr Sadashiviah, Chairman, Pollution Control Board, Government of
Karnataka. Mr F.D.R Colaso, President, Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society
(ITFS), Bangalore Chapter and also a former I.G and DIG of Karnataka
State thanked distinguished guests and people gathered here to watched
photo exhibition.

Indo Tibetan Friendship Society, Bangalore Chapter at Ashirvad, St.
Mark’s Road, Bangalore, with an aim to create awareness among local
Indian populace and Tibetan settled in the city about Tibetans life in
exile and Tibet’s past and present situation.

1.30 PM, Dhondup Dolma, researcher of Environment and Development Desk
of DIIR, gave a detail presentation on environmental issues related to
Tibet and also answered the questions posed by the visitors.

More
than 150 people comprising of both Tibetans and local Indian populace
thronged to visit the rare photo exhibition, and also watched Tibet
related documentary films such as leaving Fear Behind, Nation in Exile,
Meltdown in Tibet and Compassion in Exile.

Tibet Museum’s traveling exhibition team is currently holding their
next photo exhibition at Hunsur Rabgayling Tibetan Settlement from 28
to 29 August 2010.
