
DHARAMSHALA: Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay today congratulated Nobel peace prize winners Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai in recognition of their monumental achievement.
Sikyong said the Central Tibetan administration admire their contribution and struggle for the basic rights and education of children.
“Malala Yousafzai’s fight and struggle for girl’s right to education and her determination is heroic and iconic to the rest of the world,” he said.
Sikyong also lauded Kailash Satyarthi’s unwavering fight against child trafficking and child labour in India. “His non-violent protests and demonstrations are an inspiration to many,” he commented.
He offered heartfelt congratulations to both the individuals and emphasised the need to continue their struggle for the elevation of basic human rights and freedom.
Malala Yousafzai is a 17 year old girl from Pakistan who was shot by a Taliban gunman for advocating the right of girl’s education. She is the youngest Nobel peace prize winner.
Kailash Satyarthi is a prominent activist against child labour in India. His organisation and network have freed upto 75000 children from servitude and have raised awareness of child labour and have developed wide-ranging strategies to solve it.
