Inter-School Mathematics Relay Competition Begins in Mussoorie[Thursday, 19 August 2010, 10:45 a.m.]
Dharamshala: Tibetan Homes Foundation School in Mussoorie is holding an inter–school Mathematics Relay competition for two days from 19-20 August at the school. Students from class five to ten of Sambhota Tibetan school and Central Tibetan Schools Administration are participating in this relay. The competition helps the students to learn and enjoy maths calculations in the form of games.Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok, Secretary of the Department of Education will be the chief guest.On Thursday morning students of the host school will present the maths relay in a very different manner by presenting it for the first time by traditional Tibetan method of Buddhist philosophical debating method. The next day students will display Mathematics exhibition and games. They will have an extempore speech competition and prize distributions. Ven Karma G Yuthok and Mr Tsering Samdup, Education Officer of the Department of Education will visit Tibetan schools in Mussoorie, Dekyiling, Poanta Sahib, and Puruwala. These schools are located near Dehradun, the capital of Uttara Khand state of India. Mr Tsering Samdup will give a public talk on Basic Education Policy (BEP) of the Central Tibetan Administration on 23 August and he will answer questions relating to BEP in Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement. BEP was unanimously approved by the 13th Assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputies.
