Shillong: The Tibetan settlement officer of Shillong, Mr. Pema Dhondup, made a courtesy call on the honourable Governor of Meghalaya Shri Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan on 16th February 2022. Member of Parliament Mrs. Tsering Dolma, Abbot of the Gaden Choeling Buddhist Monastery, President of Local Tibetan Assembly, accompanied Settlement officer and presented the Governor of Meghalaya with traditional white scarf and memento as a token of gratitude.
Parliamentarian Tsering Dolma express greetings and gratitude on behalf of the Tibetan Parliament and brief the honourable governor about the coming parliament session in March. Further, she highlighted about the critical situation inside Tibet to which the Governor express his solidarity towards the just cause of Tibet.
Mr. Pema Dhondup share about the spiritual relations between India and Tibet and express profound gratitude to the enlightened Indian scholars from the Nalanda tradition which gave Tibet the light of Buddhism. His Excellency the Governor fondly recalled his meeting with H.H the Dalai Lama and express his joyfulness in the presence of H.H the Dalai Lama.
Parliamentarian and Settlement officer informed about the ongoing construction of new monastery cum Cultural centre which aims to impart the ancient Nalanda tradition based on human values such as warm heartedness, compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, contentment, peace and ahimsa to create a compassionate and peaceful society. Honourable Governor commended the aims and objectives of new monastery and Cultural Centre.
Finally, on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration, both the MP and Settlement officer thank the Indian Government and the State Government for their profound support and kind hospitality.
