DHARAMSHALA: Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay today gave an in-depth presentation titled “Why the Middle Way Approach” to explain the viability of the Middle Way Approach to resolve the issue of Tibet under the prevailing situation. Honorable Sikyong was accompanied by Mr. Ngodup Drongchung, Kalon for the Department of Security during the talk.
Over 50 representatives of Tibetan NGOs and institutions based in Mcleod Ganj including the Tibetan Youth Congress, Tibetan Women’s Association attended the talk. The talk is part of the 14th Kashag’s campaign to raise awareness on the Middle Way Approach to resolve the issue of Tibet peacefully through dialogue.
Sikyong Dr.Lobsang Sangay explained why the Middle Way Approach is the most viable and pragmatic solution to address the current urgent situation inside Tibet. He also discussed the geopolitical concerns associated with the Tibet issue and the increasing support from the international community particularly Chinese nationals towards the Middle Way Approach.
“ The Middle Way Approach is a non-violent, win-win proposition which enjoys strong international support. The Middle Way Approach categorically rejects the present repressive and colonial polices of the Chinese government towards the Tibetan people while not seeking separation from the People’s Republic of China. It straddles the middle path between separation and repression,” he said.
Sikyong also explained that one of the major aim of the awareness campaign on the Middle Way Approach is to “counter the efforts of Chinese officials and representatives who are misleading many around the world about what the ‘Middle Way’ is.”
Even during the recently concluded Sino-Tibetan conference held in Hamburg, Sikyong has explained the Middle Way Approach to the 30 Chinese intellectuals participating in the conference.
Following the conference, the Chinese participants have expressed their support to the Middle Way Approach and issued a consensus declaring their resolve to make tireless efforts to raise awareness about the Middle Way Approach within the Chinese community. (Click Here)
