PARIS : The Bureau du Tibet yesterday organised jointly with the Tibet Group in the French Senate a reception to mark the 79th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

The reception was attended by around 80 persons representing various Tibet support groups and supporters, including members of French Senate.

Mr. Jean-Francois Humbert, the President of the Senate Tibet Group in his opening address welcomed the invitees and underlined the importance of celebrating His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s birthday in the Senate significant in terms of the support that transcends political party affiliations for the just cause of Tibet. He reiterated Group’s continued support in spite of the changes that will take place in future.

Mr. Ngodup Dorjee, the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama while thanking the supporters for their continued support underscored the importance of inculcating in one’s lives the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, to become a warm-hearted human being as described by His Holiness the Dalai Lama himself the best birthday gift.

Senator Andre Gattolin, Senator Jean-Claude Frecon and former Senator and Deputy in the French National Assembly Mr. Louis de Broissia were other dignitaries who attended the reception.

The Tibetan Community of France will organise a formal ceremony of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 79th birthday celebration on 6 July 2014 at the Buddhist Pagoda of Bois de Vincenne, Paris.
