Tibet Film Festival 2010 Opens in London[Thursday, 2 July 2010, 2:06 p.m.]
Dharamshala: Tibet film festival opened in London on Thursday. This is the third year. The festival continues in July with a selection of inspiring films on rich Tibetan art and culture. This is on the occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 75th birthday on 6th July. The festival then goes on tour from August.The festival focuses on environmental issues and Tibetan music. It will show films by younger generation of Tibetan and Indian filmmakers. A photo-exhibition titled ‘The earth’s third pole’ is on for whole month presenting the issues of climate change and water in relation with the fragile Tibetan Plateau. The festival is also holding a Tibetan poetry evening on 9th July with the theme of freedom, devotion and justice. The festival is a non-profit initiative and will support Kyegudo area of Kham in Tibet, which was devastated by an earthquake on 14 April this year.The festival will show movies like I am Pema, When the Dragon Swallowed the Sun, Open road: The failed secret mission to Tibet, The sun behind the cloud: Tibet’s struggle for freedom, Paradise lost, Dramgyen the tune of life, Seeds, Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, International film festival, Daughters of wisdom, Frozen, Shining spirit: The musical journey of Jamyang Yeshi, Lost in the Muqam, Road to peace, Tashi writes a letter, Dolpo Tulku: Return to the Himalayas and many others. This Film Festival is arranged by an organisation called Day for Night.
