Dharamshala:
The local Indian residents of Upper Dharamsala organised a prayer
ritual and a community lunch to celebrate 50 years of friendship and
peaceful co-existence with the Tibetan community on 15 June.

event was jointly organised by the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Association,
Bhagsu Taxi Union, Auto Union, Hotel Association, Shopkeepers’
Association, Trekkers Association and general public.

people of Upper Dharamshala would like to express our deep gratitude to
His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people for giving us the
opportunity to grow together and learn from each other for the last 50
years,” Mr Ajay Singh Mankotia, president of the Indo-Tibetan
Friendship Association, told a gathering of around 2,500 people at the
main Buddhist temple here.

his address, His Holiness thanked the organisers and praised Mr Ajay
Singh for expressing love for the Tibetan people from the core of his
heart.

such as those based in Switzerland and the US have lived peacefully
with the host community and earned appreciation from the local people.

Tibetan people living under difficult condition in Tibet are loved and
praised by the people of China and other countries. The love for
Tibetans is because of their good moral behaviour and not due to their
material wealth and physical beauty, His Holiness said. He said the
Tibetans must make efforts to sustain their valuable character.
