
DHARAMSHALA: Lobsang Tempa, a 19 year old Tibetan monk was arrested after staging a solitary protest in Ngaba (incorporated into China’s Sichuan Province) on 26 April.
He was peacefully protesting against the Chinese government on the streets of Ngaba, carrying a hand-drawn Tibetan national flag and a portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama before he was arrested by Chinese authorities, a source from the region said. He has not been seen or heard from since.
Lobsang Tempa hails from Meuruma village in Ngaba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. He is the youngest son of Ngakchung and Dolma Choeko. He has joined Kirti monastery at a tender age to study Tibetan Buddhism and was studying in class IX of the monastic school at the time of his protest.
