Dharamshala: The President of Central Tibetan Administration, Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay has thanked Honourable Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Meghalaya for their exceptional welcome and hospitality during his visit in February. Sikyong was accorded state guest status by all three state governments.
Having just returned from a successful valedictory tour covering over 10 Tibetan settlements across the three states, Sikyong said it wouldn’t have been possible without the gracious support of the respective CMO and all the offices associated.
“I would like to convey my heartfelt thanks to the People and Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Meghalaya for their exceptional welcome and hospitality during my visit. Special thanks also to the respected members of the CMO, SP and DC office for their outstanding facilitation and support throughout.”
Sikyong also particularly thanked the DC office of Darjeeling for ensuring all-round facilitation during his visit.
Lastly, Sikyong thanked the Paonta Cholsum Settlement Office and the community for organising a special felicitation for the Sikyong-led Kashag.
“It was heartening to learn that the public appreciates all the work that the Kashag had achieved and the fact that we have delivered on most of the promises,” said Sikyong, who is soon to complete his second term as the elected head of Tibetan people. “I am grateful, and I thank the Tibetan public whom I have met during this visit and who continue to show their love and support even after ten years in office.”
“For me, this was an emotional visit,” said Sikyong, recounting his visit to the village in Darjeeling where he was born and brought up and where his parents had spent the most time.
“As I said during the tour, I want to thank all the local people for their friendship and solidarity throughout. I am who I am today because of the love and support I have received from all the people including those from my village, neighbours, friends, teachers and staff of my school and everyone who wished me well.”
Sikyong’s entourage is currently in quarantine since they returned from the tour last weekend. Although they have all tested negative for COVID, they will complete the quarantine as per CTA guidelines.
