Dharamshala:
His Eminence Gyalwa Karmapa Rinpoche led a special prayer session for
those who have perished, injured and for those left behind with so much
suffering by the recent tragic and massive earthquake in Kyigudo which
was organised by the Gyuto Tantric Monastery near Dharamsala today
morning. At the end of the Monlam prayer Gyalwa Karmapa
Rinpoche addressed the congregation. He said that the recent massive
earthquake in Kyigudo has killed so many Tibetans and injured even more
and those left behind are in a tragic situation. Many school children
and monks in exile from Kyigudo have lost all of their family members
in this earthquake. As soon as the news of this tragedy spread, causing
immense anxiety and sadness amongst the exiled Tibetans, His Holiness
the Dalai Lama and Tibetans worldwide have offered extensive prayers in
their memory and solidarity. Gyalwa Karmapa Rinpoche further
said that though the earthquake has caused unimaginable suffering to
the victims, he lauded their resilience and perseverance. The Tibetans
have inherent strength to overcome the traumatic and painful events due
to their understanding of the nature of compassion, interdependence and
law of Karma. He praised all Tibetans in Tibet – from all provinces –
who had rushed to Kyigudo to offer help to the victims, especially the
monks who led the rescue, offered support to the living and conducted
cremation rituals.Gyalwa Karmapa Rinpoche also recalled the
kind wish of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to visit quake-hit region in
Tibet to console and pray for them. It is understandable and natural
for the Tibetan people at such a painful moment to have a strong wish
to have audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama to whom they have
great trust and faith, he said.Gyalwa Karmapa Rinpoche
commended the Gyuto Monatsery, the Abbot and the Sangha for conducting
the special prayers and he said that it would indeed help those
Tibetans in Kyigudo. The monks and Gyuto Monastery have also
contributed sum of Rupees 1,56,111 to the Office of Tibetan Settlement
Dharamsala towards medical relief and reconstruction of houses in
Kyigudo.
