OOT-DC to host the virtual celebration of 31st anniversary of Nobel Peace Prize conferment on His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Washington DC: The Office of Tibet-DC will be hosting a virtual celebration of the 31st Anniversary of the Conferment of Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on 10 December 2020.
The program will begin at 10 am Eastern Time, via Facebook Live on TibetTV Facebook Page and the Office of Tibet-DC page.
Nobel Peace Prize citation reads, “The Dalai Lama, in his struggle for the liberation of Tibet, has consistently opposed the use of violence and has come forward with constructive and forward-looking proposals for the solution of international conflicts, human rights issues, and global environmental problems.”
Given the staggering toll of the 2020 Wuhan-originated coronavirus pandemic, it is now more important than ever for the world to take notice of His Holiness’s strong commitment to peace, nonviolence, and compassion. Auspicious as it is the day coincides with the UN Human Rights Day and is celebrated by Tibetans and supporters worldwide.
The celebration is participated by the newly appointed Special Coordinator for Tibetan issues, members of the US Congress, a Member of the Canadian Parliament, a Nobel Laureate, a Diplomat, and the President of Central Tibetan Administration. Representative Ngodup Tsering will moderate the event.
