DHARAMSHALA: The first Tibetan Students’ Leadership training organised by the Department of Education successfully concluded yesterday at the lower TCV school in Dharamshala. Over 300 students from 31 different schools attended the training.
Speaking at the concluding function, Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay urged the students to utilise and share the knowledge that they have gained during the summit with fellow students at their respective schools.
“We, at the department of education, genuinely believe that providing opportunities that we missed during our school days to the present students would bring an effective outcome in their life. Therefore, we have organised this leadership summit,” Sikyong said.
Sikyong Dr Sangay recommended creating an online network among the students to exchange ideas as well as build relationships and co-ordination among them in their future academic works. He urged the students to cultivate a positive attitude towards life to succeed in their endeavours.
Sikyong also expressed hope that the number of students securing above 90% in the class XII board exam would reach 130 after two years.
He reiterated that humility, integrity and hard work are the three key characteristics of the Tibetan people, urging the students to value our traditional Tibetan knowledge as well as modern education.
Mr Tsering Samdup, Education Officer and co-ordinator of the leadership summit, said that Tibetan students have gained more confidence and knowledge.
“We learned through the final assessment of the participants that our students are good at speaking but we still have a lot to improve in writing, he said.
