
DHARAMSHALA: The India-Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) in collaboration with National Campaign for Tibetan Support (NCTS) organised a day-long Tibet campaign on the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s “Dhamma Chakra Parivartan Din” at Dikshabhumi, Nagpur.
More than 5 lakh Indian Buddhist from across the country have come to receive blessings at the Dikshabhumi stupa in remembrance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the day.
The organisers of the Tibet campaign set up a stall with a banner citing Dr Ambedkar’s Statement on the issue of Tibet. Late Dr Ambedkar had said that “Instead of according recognition to China in 1949, had India accorded this recognition to Tibet, there would have been no Sino-Indian border conflict.”
Tibet related books in Hindi including Bharat Aur Tibbat, Tibbat Aur Tibbat Ke Log, Bhartiya Netawon ke drishti main Tibbat, Tibbat Upniveshwak kai Pachas Saal and leaflets “Tibbat Ek Tathya” in Marathi, English and Hindi were also displayed and distributed among the people.
Films on His Holiness the Dalai Lama including “Compassion in Exile”, “What is China doing in Tibet”, ‘Himalayan Meltdown’ were screened. Thank you India song by TIPA was also displayed followed by a signature campaign.
Shri Arvind Nikose, Regional Convener of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause, said the exploitation of Tibetan plateau and Tibet’s environment by the Chinese government will have disastrous impact on downstream nations, especially India.
NCTS earlier organised a bike rally from Wardha to Nagpur to show their genuine support and sympathy to the cause of Tibet.
