
DHARAMSHALA: A two-day workshop on Health Information System (HIS 3) was held from 7 – 8 October at Hotel Tibet in Mcleod Ganj. The work shop was organised by the Health department of the Central Tibetan Administration.
Over 20 nurses and health staff from 16 Tibetan settlements are participating in the workshop. The resource persons for the workshop were Dr Nigel Griffiths from Australia and Dr Lobsang Tsering.
Speaking at the workshop, health Kalon Dr Tsering Wangchuk said, Health Information System is a very important aspect of conducting health surveys. A successful Health Information System bolsters the over all health of a community. HIS identifies the areas where improvements are needed and helps in preventing diseases through a well-planned strategy, he said.
The inaugural of the workshop was also attended by Health Secretary Sonam Choephel Shosur and Additional Secretary Tsegyal.
The workshop on Health Information System is being held as part of the health department’s five main projects including capacity building for health personnels, health awareness campaigns in the settlements, first-aid help in remote areas etc..
