
NEW DELHI: Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, a prestigious college of Delhi University, observed ‘A Day For Tibet’ programme at their campus yesterday.
The college organised talks on Tibet past and present, photo exhibition, and documentary film screenings on Tibet’s environment.
Around 70 students of the college and senior staff, including principal Dr J.B. Singh, participated in the programme.
Mr Tenzin Lekshay, media co-ordinator at the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, gave an interactive talk on ‘Tibet then & now’. He stressed on the moral responsibility of the Indian people on the issue of Tibet, saying that they share immediate border with Tibet and whatever developments and changes happen on the Tibetan plateau have repercussion on India.
A documentary titled ‘Himalayan Meltdown’ about how rapid retreating of glacier in Tibet will affect billions of people living in downstream countries who depend on river water originating from Tibet.
The India Tibetan Co-ordination Office distributed books and pamphlets on Tibet to the students and staff during the programme.
