
DHARAMSHALA: The Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama has issued an urgent announcement in view of the new security measures taken by the local security agencies.
“As a result of new security measures, no outside electronic gadgets, including FM radios, will be allowed in the Temple premises at all times,” the Office of His Holiness said in a statement on 20 August.
“We apologize for the inconvenience created and ask for your understanding while we work out a new method for translation services for future teachings,” it said.
The Indian security has beefed up security at Buddhist monasteries across Himachal Pradesh since the serial bomb blasts at Mahabodhi Temple complex in Bihar last month.
Teaching for Korean devotees begins Sunday
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will give teachings on Tsongkhapa’s Concise Treatises on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment and An overview of Tantra from Tsongkhapa’s Stages of the Path of Mantrayana at the request of a group of Koreans, at Tsuglagkhang from 25-27 August. The timings for the teaching are 8:00 am – 12:00 noon (IST).
The office of His Holiness said it would provide English translation for all English-listening members of the audience in a designated area.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama returned to Dharamsala this morning after successfully concluding about a month-long meditational retreat in Ladakh. The Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and officiating Sikyong Pema Chhinjor received His Holiness at the Kangra airport.
