
Dharamshala: Tibetan Spiritual Leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama presided over the inauguration ceremony of the conference on ‘The Great Commentarial Text on Guhyasamaja Tantra’, the marking of the 600th Birth Anniversary of Gyudchen Dorjechang Jeytsun Kunga Dhondup, the Founder of Gyuto Tantric Monastery. In simultaneous, the day also marked the 600th anniversary of Jey Lama Tsongkhapa bestowing Gyudchen Sherab Senge. The day commemorated the Tri-600th anniversary in grateful memorial of the Great Tantric Teacher, Father, and Scion.
Present at the ceremony were Ganden Tri Rinpoche, Ling Rinpoche, Shartse Choeje Rinpoche, Jangtse Choeje Rinpoche, Tai Situ Rinpoche Kirti Rinpoche, Kasur Samdhong Rinpoche and abbots of various monasteries. Dignitaries at the ceremony include CTA President Dr. Lobsang Sangay, heads of the three pillars of Democracy, Chorig Kalon Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok, Members of Tibetan Parliament in Exile and others.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama consecrated the representations of enlightened body, speech and mind (statues, texts, and stupas) particularly prepared anew for the gratitude memorial anniversary. Followed by Long life prayer offering to His Holiness the Dalai Lama by Gyuto Tantric Monastery and Former Gyuto Member’s Association, His Holiness the Dalai Lama was presented with an image of Gyudchen Jeytsun Kunga Dhondup in gratitude memorial of the 600th birth anniversary of Gyudchen Jeytsun Kunga Dhondup.
On the sidelines of the event, His Holiness launched the latest editions of the three texts including manuscripts-compared Gyuto Edition of Ngagrim Chenmo, THe Great [Presentation of] the stages of the Vajra Vehicle Path to mark the 600th anniversary of Jey Lama Tsongkhapa actualizing Sambhogakaya(complete Enjoyment Body) in the intermediate state; Root Text and Commentary combined Gyuto Edition of Jeytsun Sherab Senge’s Illuminating Brightly the Lamp, A commentary to [Guhysamaja] Tantra to mark the 600th anniversary of Jey Lama Tsongkhapa conferring to Jeytsun Sherab Senge, at Sera Choedhing, the text on Guhyasamaja Tantra and Root Text and Commentary combined Gyuto Edition of Jeytsun Kunga Dhondup’s A Treasury Store of The Two Stages, a commentary on Guhyasamaja Tantra to mark the 600th birth anniversary of Jeytsun Kunga Dhondup.
Gyuto Tantric Monastery offered His Holiness the Dalai Lama a silver Dharma Wheel adorned with Vajra and Bell expressing and symbolising their gratitude. Formers Members of Gyuto Tantric Monastery also offered a Longevity vase adorned with an image of Buddha Amitayus.
Abbot of Gyuto Monastery, Reverend Thupten Tenzin in his address briefly spoke about the history of Gyuto Monastery and presented a report on the monastery.
His Eminence Gandhen Trichen Dorjechang also addressed the celebration.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama spoke on the Gyudchen Sherab Senge and Gyudchen Dorjechang Jeytsun Kunga Dhondup, the Founder of Gyuto Tantric Monastery whereas he spoke on the importance of upholding the contributions of the monastery towards the Buddha Dharma. Meanwhile, he thanked the institution for their immense contributions in the field of Dharma and urged them to continue the noble deed. It was then His Holiness expressed his wishes to visit Gyudmey Monastery during his upcoming schedule in Southern India in December.
Accounting on Gyuto and Gyudmed monastery, His Holiness said, “Tsongkhapa once asked who among his disciples would take care of his tantric teachings. Gyu Sherab Senge volunteered, and Tsongkhapa entrusted to him his copy of the text he had taught. Gyuchen Kunga Dhondup, a disciple of Gyu Sherab Sengge, left Gyume. Subsequently, he established Gyuto”
His Holiness then spoke about Jey Tsongkhapa, Gyu Sherab Senge and Gyuchen Kunga Dhondup known as Great Teacher, Father and scion respectively.
His Holiness reminded the faith entrusted to him by the Tibetans especially Tibetans inside Tibet is magnanimous and thus he solidified his commitment to serve for the well being of Tibetans and humanity at large.
“For as long as space endures
And for as long as living beings remain,
Until then may I, too, abide
To dispel the misery of the world”, His Holiness recited.
Once again His Holiness reaffirmed to live over 100 years as prophesised by female protector deity Palden Lhamo.
Acknowledging the undaunted courage of Tibetans inside Tibet. His Holiness reminded that the Tibetans in exile are the spokesperson who represents Tibetans inside Tibet.
His Holiness implored that those who share a spiritual connection with him will maintain the same connection life end even afterlife. He assured that his statement is furnished with reason and logic. His Holiness calling himself a messenger of Avalokiteshvara said all those connected to him are connected to Avalokiteshvara indirectly.
“You keep faith in me, it is definite that you have the blessing of Avalokiteshvara” His Holiness concluded. He further thanked all the sponsors and benefactors for supporting the Gyuto Tantric Institute.
Under the chairpersonship of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the inauguration of the Tantric conference on the commentary Text on Guhyasamaja Tantra began. A monk began to speak and debate on the topic.
Lama U-zay of Gyuto Tantric Monastery Rev. Lobsang Khedrup delivered a vote of thanks.
The three-day conference will deliberate on ‘The Great Commentarial Text on Guhyasamaja Tantra’. There are 12 participants from 12 different monasteries across India.
