Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama gets a rousing welcome in Dharamshala this morning after concluding his Chandigarh visit.
Thousands of Tibetans and well-wishers turned out in the streets leading up to the main temple to welcome him home.
During his brief two-day visit to Chandigarh, His Holiness participated in the inauguration of Chitkara University’s 11th Global Week 2019 and gave a talk on “The need for universal ethics in education’ to the faculty and students of the university. His Holiness was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Literature Degree by Chitkara University before declaring the 11th Global Week open.
The next day, His Holiness addressed the 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak’s celebration at Chandigarh University where he spoke on ‘Secular Ethics in Modern Education’.
His Holiness called out the gathering to embrace the virtues of love and compassion which he claimed is the basic human nature and also emphasised combining ancient Indian knowledge and modern education to bring about inner peace. The event was attended by Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu and Vice-Chancellor Dr R.S Bawa, dignitaries, staff, faculty members and students of Chandigarh University.
His Holiness upcoming schedule includes three-day teaching on Heart Sutra (Sherab Nyingpo) at the Main Tibetan Temple at the request of Koreans from 4-6 November 2019.
