
Puruwala: Sambhota Tibetan Day School, Puruwala celebrated its golden jubilee anniversary on Tuesday in the presence of Kalon Karma Yeshi, Department of Finance, CTA.
Present as special guest was Sakya Parliamentarian Lopon Thupten Gyaltsen and other guests included Puruwala Sakya Khen Rinpoche Choe Nyima, Khen Rinpoche Ngawang Nyima, Head of Academic section of Department of Education Tenzin Dorjee, Head of Sambhota Tibetan Schools Namgyal Yarphel, Representatives of Uttarkhand based Sakya Monastries, Sakya College and nunnery, Tibetan settlement officers within Sirmour District Himachal Pradesh, Indian dignitaries, Principal and headmaster of Sambhota Tibetan school, Paonta, alumni and students of Puruwala Day School.
Opening the grand ceremony, the Chief Guest Kalon Karma Yeshi offered ceremonial butter lamp. Assistant Headmaster Dolma Lhadon, Sambhota Tibetan Day School, Puruwala presented a brief history of the school, which she said was founded on this day in 1969.
Head of the Sambhota Tibetan Schools Namgyal Yarphel and Parliamentarian Lopon Thupten Gyaltsen addressed the gathering.
The Chief guest, Kalon Karma Yeshi congratulated the members of the Sambhota Day School on the august celebration and offered greetings on behalf of 15th Kashag.
Kalon remembered the gratitude and blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Sakya Gongma Rinpoche in the founding of the Sakya Tibetan settlement and in supporting the growth of the community in the last 5 decades.
He also remarked upon the transition of the Days school from the Central Tibetan Schools Administration to now being administered by the Department of Education. He congratulated them all.
In a special remark, Kalon expressed profound gratitude to Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche, members of the school and the alumni for taking up a special initiative in organising the event.
A video message from Sakya Dagmo Kalden was screened at the event, followed by a series of felicitation of former and current members of the Sambhota Days School by the Chief Guest.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from a member of alumni.
