
Bir, H.P: Tibetans of Bir and Chauntra settlements organised a long-life ceremony (Tenshug) in the honor of Kyabje Ritul Sonam Tenzin Rinpoche.
The Tibetans of the settlements expressed their gratitude by hosting a grand courtesy event celebrating the work and life of Rinpoche towards the welfare of these communities.
Home Kalon Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang was the chief guest at the event. The event was attended by Khenchen Namdol Rinpoche of Namdroling monastery, Khorkhim Rinpoche, former Speaker of Tibetan Parliament in exile Ven Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Ogyen Topgyal Rinpoche, Additional Secretary Dawa Tsultrim of the Dep. of Religion and Culture, and the settlement officers of the three sub settlements of Bir. Apart from that, representatives of government and non-government organisations including sponsors participated in the event. In total, around 1000 people were gathered to pay tribute to Rinpoche and pray for his longevity.
President of Tenshug Committee, Mr. Tsering Dorjee delivered the opening speech and welcomed the gathering. Mr. Tsering apprised the gathering on committee work and explained the program in detail.
Vice President Tenzin Namgyal presented a brief biography mainly highlighting the work and achievements of Rinpoche.
Following which, a series of speeches were delivered by the guests of the event.

Home Kalon Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang along with the settlement officer of Bir Dege, Mr. Chemi Dorjee presented Kyabje Ritul Sonam Tenzin with gratitude award on behalf of the Tibetans for Rinpoche’s long-standing effort and support towards the cause of Tibet particularly for assisting and funding towards the welfare of Bir Tibetan settlement.
“This is to tribute all the religious leaders and Rinpoches under the leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It is because of their blessings and guidance, the Tibetan government in exile is running efficiently”, remarked Kalon while expressing his gratitude.
Addressing the gathering, Kyabje Ritul Sonam Tenzin Rinpoche acknowledged the effort of the people for hosting the event and thanked them accordingly.
“Today’s event indeed signifies and represents the unity of Tibetans”, attested Rinpoche.
After Rinpoche’s address, the young monks concluded Tenshug ceremony with an elaborate prayer service.
Secretary of Tenshug Committee, Kalsang Sherab delivered the closing speech followed by cultural performances performed by the Tibetans of Bir settlements.
