DHARAMSHALA: Health Kalon Dr. Tsering Wangchuk left Dharamsala today for official visit to Tibetan settlements located in central India.
The health kalon will visit Tibetan settlements in Odhisha on 27-28 June, and Mainpat and Bhandara on 1-2 and 5-6 July respectively.
The visit aims to monitor the ongoing Telemedicine, a pilot project of health department, at Mainpat, and to analyse and review the feasibility of introduction of Telemedicine pilot project at Odhisha and Bhandara.
The health kalon will monitor the implementation of various healthcare programmes such as Tibetan Medicare System introduced by the department of health. Moreover, he will address the public on the three guiding key policies of the present Kashag, especially education of Tibetans in exile and Middle Way Approach to seek genuine autonomy in Tibet. He will also inspect the health conditions of Tibetans in the three settlements and review health related projects.
He will meet three doctors based in New Delhi – Dr Tenzin Nyendak, Dr Tenzin Youlo and Dr. Sonam Topgyal – at the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi on 7 July. He will discuss with them the need of Tibetan doctors at hospitals and health centres in the Tibetan settlements.
He will return to Dharamsala on 8 July.
