
DARJEELING: Governor of West Bengal, His Excellency M.K. Narayan paid a visit to the Tibetan settlement in Darjeeling during his visit to the area on 12 June. He visited the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre and was welcomed to the Tibetan settlement by the settlement officer Sonam Sangmo and the local Tibetan public. The Governor offered a Tibetan ceremonial scarf to a portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and expressed that he is a great admirer of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
During his visit, the Tibetan Settlement Officer was able to hand him a letter regarding a long pending issue of the five-years extension of Registration Certificate and the issue of Return Visa which is not being entertained from the concern FRO at Darjeeling. The Governor humbly read out the letter and discussed the issue with the Tibetan settlement officer. The settlement office also handed him brochures relating to the Tibetan issue and the Central Tibetan Administration’s policy of the Middle Way Approach.
