DHARAMSHALA: Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay today lauded Tibetan students who have achieved outstanding results in the All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination held this year.
Speaking to a group of Tibetan college students at a workshop organised by the Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Centre, Sikyong praised Ms Tenzin Chokyi, a student of Tibetan Homes Foundation in Mussoorie, for becoming the first Tibetan student to score 95.4% in the class XII board exam.
Sikyong also maintained that Tibetan schools have continuously done well in the exams and attributed the success to the efforts of the staff and teachers of the schools. Underlining the importance of hard work and dedication, he urged the students to study hard to avail various scholarships offered by the CTA. The Department of Education has significantly increased the scholarship grants for merit students, reflecting the 14th Kashag’s prioritization of education and promotion of academic excellence.
Sikyong responded to questions from the students about the Middle Way Approach, the financial viability of the CTA and the transfer of CTSA schools to the Central Tibetan Administration.
Sikyong said the 14th Kashag has launched consolidation, action and dialogue phases to revitalise the Tibetan movement. He added that consolidation of the Tibetan movement will be guided by action in a peaceful and dignified manner, and the dialogue phase with our stand of substance as primary and process as secondary to engage in meaningful dialogue with the Chinese leadership to solve the issue of Tibet.
57 Tibetan students from different colleges in India attended the workshop on ‘Today’s Youth, Tomorrow’s Leaders’ from 21- 29 May.
