Moscow: The International Tibet Solidarity Day was observed on 17th May in the capital of Russia by Tibetans, the Dharma friends and supporters of Tibet in Moscow. The event began with the prayers dedicated to the Tibetan people suffering in occupied-Tibet. The prayers were led by five monks of Drepung Gomang Monastery, who are on religious tour to Russian Federation.
Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Russia and CIS, Nawang Rabgyal, briefly introduced the significance of the event of Tibet Solidarity, proclaimed by the Kashag and Chitu of Central Tibetan Administration. It was followed by the speech of Mrs. Nadya Berkengeym, Vice-President of Tibet House in Moscow. She spoke in detail on the current situation in Chinese-occupied Tibet and the self-immolation now numbering 117 since February 2009.
It was followed by screening a documentary film produce by CTA and dubbed in Russian: “What’s China doing in Tibet ?”. On this occasion another film dubbed in Russian: “An Escape from Tibet” was shown to the public.
The Tibet Solidarity event in Moscow was organized by Tibet House and Tibet Culture & Information Center with support of Moscow Buddhist Center of Lama Tsongkapa and a newly formed organization called ” Events in Tibet”, which disseminates by internet information on current situation in Tibet.
