
Geneva, 9 April: His Holiness the Dalai Lama will arrive in South Tyrol, one of the five autonomous regions in Italy, for a two- day official visit this afternoon. The two autonomous provinces – Bolzano and Trento of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol are the hosts of the visit.
President Luis Durnwalder of Autonomous Province of South Tyrol will officially receive His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Bolzano airport.
On 10 April morning, President Luis Durnwalder in presence of the entire Autonomous Province of South Tyrol government will present to His Holiness the Dalai Lama the South Tyrol Minority Award. The award is in recognition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s tireless efforts, particularly his non-violent commitment for the Tibetan people and its cause.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will speak on Beyond Religion at the European Academy Bolzano in the afternoon, which will be broadcasted live on the local TV station and on the Internet at 1400 Central European Time. (View)
On 11 April morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will travel to Trento and will address the Provincial Council of the Autonomous Province of Trento. On the occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit, the local government will host official luncheon at the Palace of the Government of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will also meet with the board members of the Association Italia-Tibet marking their 25th Anniversary.
At the indoor Pala Trento stadium in Trento, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will give a public talk on The Happiness in a Troubled World. The Province President Dr. Dr. Alberto Pacher will welcome His Holiness the Dalai Lama prior to His Holiness’ public talk.
The first visit to South Tyrol by His Holiness the Dalai Lama was in 1997 and the last visit was in November 2009.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will leave South Tyrol and arrive in Switzerland on 12 April morning for a five-day visit.
