As a part of the year-long ‘Thank You India’ campaign initiated by the Central Tibetan Administration, Tibetans across India organised a series of ‘Cover the Cold’ campaign on 10 December coinciding with the celebrations of the 29th anniversary of the conferment of Nobel Peace Prize upon His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
On this special occasion, as an expression of gratitude for the host country, Tibetans across the length and breadth of India distributed warm clothing and blankets to the needy and homeless Indians.
Keeping in view the unusually cold winter this year, Tibetans from different settlements and those engaged in winter sweater business in various cities took to distributing warm clothes, quilts and blankets to poor and needy. The initiative received positive response from the beneficiaries and adequate media coverage as well. To add to the celebratory mood of the Nobel Peace Prize commemoration, Tibetans organised functions where dignitaries and local citizens are invited to be part of the celebration.
