Lara Damiani was passionate about her film project, documenting the
current socio-political situation in Tibet. She quit her job, drained
her life savings, maxed out several credit cards, took out two bank
loans and sold her clothes and furniture on eBay. She was on the brink of having no money left when she was saved by a generous Australian donor. “Tibet’s so important for so many reasons,” Damiani said in a
statement. “It represents universal principles of freedom, democracy,
human rights, the environment, non-violence. It’s about protecting our
indigenous cultures, and it’s about issues of imperialism, consumerism
and hard-line Communism.”
The result is “Tibet’s Cry For Freedom.” The documentary will be shown
Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at La Paloma Sabanera Coffee House in Hartford, Connecticut, US.
Damiani will be present at the screening, which is free. La Paloma is at Capitol Avenue and Babcock Street. The film is unrated.
