DHARAMSHALA: The first batch of 15 Tibetan youths successfully completed their training on computer and web designing organised by the Dharamsala-based Tibetan Career Center.
The trainees were presented with certificates at a ceremony held at the Tibetan Career Center in Mcleod Ganj today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jigme Tsultrim, joint secretary of the Home Department and head of the Tibetan Career Center, said in addition to giving career counseling, we made use of the computers at our center to provide training to Tibetan youngsters.
He said the Central Tibetan Administration has set up 8 career centers in Tibetan settlements in India and Nepal. These centers provide vocational training to unemployed youths and those who did not get educational opportunities, he added.
He stressed that the incumbent 14th Kashag has build on the efforts made by the former Kashag to facilitate unemployed Tibetan youths with vocational training and counseling.
The trainees exchanged some of the experiences that they have gained during the training.
Ms Tseten Dolkar, a career center coordinator and one of the trainers, said: “The trainees underwent four months of training on basic and advance computer and web designing. I hope they can use this as a stepping stone to become professional web designers.
Another trainer, Mr James Walker, a web designing specialist, also shared his experiences.
