DHARAMSHALA: Kalons of the Central Tibetan Administration will visit Tibetan communities based in different corners of the world on the occasion of the 54th Tibetan National Uprising Day on 10 March.
The visit aims to apprise the Tibetans about the policies of and efforts being made by the Central Tibetan Administration concerning the grim situation in Tibet. Since March 2009, 107 Tibetans have set themselves on fire in protest against the Chinese government’s continued occupation of Tibet and repression. The situation in Tibet remain tense as the Chinese authorities continue to arbitrarily arrest, torture and imprison Tibetans, especially the relatives and friends of the self-immolators.
Kalon Pema Chhinjor of the Department of Religion and Culture will visit Australia from 6 – 13 March. He will the Parliament House and meet Australian parliamentarians including Mr Michael Danby, Chair of the Parliamentary Group for Tibet. He will brief the Special Joint Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defense and Trade on the prevailing human rights situation in Tibet with particular reference to religion and culture in Canberra on 12 March.
Home Kalon Dolma Gyari will visit Sonamling Tibetan settlement and Jangthang regions in Ladakh from 6-16 March. She will meet with Tibetans living in Goyul, Kakshung, Hanley, Nyoma, Sumdo, Samey, Leh and Chushul.
Finance Kalon Tsering Dhondup will visit Taiwan from 6 – 11 March. He will meet members of Taiwanese Parliament and speak to officials of Gangjong Publication Centre on their publications on the issue of Tibet. He will also meet with supporters of the Tibetan Blue Book, visit Tibet Support Groups and NGOs. He will read out the Sikyong’s statement on the occasion of the 54th Tibetan National Uprising Day on 10 March and later address the Tibetan community.
Kalon Ngodup Donchung of the Department of Security will visit the United States from 9 – 14 March. He will visit Tibetan community and schools in Minnesota. He will address the general public infront of the UN office in New York on 10 March. His other programmes include meeting with Tibetans in Washington DC, Boston, New York and Connecticut, and an interview with VOA on Kunleng.
Kalon Dicki Chhoyang of the Department of Information & International Relations will visit France and Belgium. She will join Speaker Penpa Tsering and members of European Parliament to address the European Solidarity Rally in Brussels on 10 March.
Health Kalon Dr Tsering Wangchuk will visit Japan from 8 – 13 March. He will meet with members of the Tibetan community and attend the Tibetan National Uprising Day in Tokyo on 10 March. He will meet Dr Kiyohiro Maruki, President of Saitama Medical Institution and visit its different sections. Other highlights of his visit include a public talk on the current situation inside Tibet and the healthcare in the Tibetan community in exile.
