DHARAMSHALA: The Tibetan community in Dharamsala today felicitated India’s state-level cricket team at the picturesque international cricket stadium here. The event was organised by the Himalayan Parivar, a Tibetan support group, to foster and strengthen harmonious relationship between the Indian and Tibetan communities.
Representatives from the Tibetan civil society in Dharamsala offered traditional greeting scarves to members of the cricket team. The Tibetan Settlement Officer and an executive member of the Tibetan Youth Congress briefed the cricketers about the issue of Tibet, and strong cultural and religious ties between India and Tibet. They thanked the people and government of India for their generous hospitality and support offered to the Tibetan refugees for the last more than fifty years.
Mr Rishi Walia, a member of the Himalayan Parivar and a long time friend of Tibet, expressed hope that the cricketers would be able to play at the international level, and create awareness about the cultural heritage of Tibet.
