Tibetan Festival at Seattle Center, US, Begins 22 AugustSaturday, 18 July 2009, 10:54 a.m.
Dharamshala: The
Tibetan Association of Washington holds it 14th annual Tibetan Festival
at Seattle Center, the world famous home of Space Needle, on 22 and 23
August 2009. The festival will be open from 12:00 noon – 5:30 pm (local
time). This year’s festival is dedicated to commemorate Tibetan
people’s “50 Years In Exile”, the Office of Tibet in New York reported.The
Mayor of city of Seattle will open the two-day festival at the Seattle
Center, which normally attracts more than ten to twelve thousands
visitors daily. The Highlights of Festival:The
Tibetan cultural group of Toronto, led by their Cultural Director Mr.
Tsering Topgyal, will be the guest performers at the festival. Toronto
is known for its excellence in Tibetan cultural performance.Seattle
Tibetan Weekend School will present their newly learned Tibetan songs
and dances. They will also exhibit different costumes worn by people
from different regions of Tibet. Visitors to the festival can also visit Tibet Tent on Fisher roof and enjoy a photo Session in Tibetan Dress.The members of the Tibetan Community of Vancouver, Canada, will join and offer several enchanting presentations.There will be side talks on Tibetan history, political affairs, culture, tradition and their way of life.Stewart
Rose and his wife Susan will yet again co-host the screening of movies
of Tibet. The films will include seven years in Tibet, Cry of the snow
lion, Leaving Fear Behind and recently released “Dalai Lama
Renaissance” etc.Tibetan Bazaar will offer an opportunity to visitors to shop variety of Tibetan handicrafts, books on Tibet and souvenir items. The
Children’s Corner is one of most sought after venues at the festival.
Tsewang Chamatsang will blend the thoughts of children from east and
west.Food show in the Center House gives an opportunity to try
how easy or difficult is it to make and eat “Tsampa”, roasted barley
flour which is the traditional staple diet of the people on the Roof of
the World.
