Dharamshala: The
Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society in south India will host the World
Conscience Day on Monday (6 July) to commemorate the 74th birthday of
Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the online
edition of The Times of India reported.The Society is hosting the event on behalf of Tibetan Support Group, southern region. Society
president Gp Capt H Rajagopal (rtd) told reporters that the aim of the
event is to create awareness about the Tibetan issues. It is imperative
since it involves India’s security issues too, he stated, pointing at
Tibet that acted as a buffer zone between India and China. BJP
MLC Thontadarya said that India should take up the Tibetan issue and
help them get freedom from the Chinese occupation. As the international
community is not taking up the issue and it is for the people to lead a
movement. India has failed to take up the Tibetan issues at the UN
effectively, he said. The programme at the Jaganmohan Palace auditorium includes talks by columnist S Gurumurthy, and Swami Muktidananda.
