“Today is the day to say thank you to this great country, incredible India. No other country has done more for Tibet than India. No people of a country has been so kind, generous as the Indian people is to Tibetans,” CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay.
With the gracious presence and blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Central Tibetan Administration kicked off the yearlong Thank You India Campaign to mark 60 years of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s arrival in India, at main Temple, Mcleod Ganj on 31 March 2018,
“Under the difficult circumstance, I have fled Tibet. It’s been a time of mixed feelings of both sadness and happiness. At the time, we had no idea what would happen in next 40 to 50 years. But today, we are commemorating 60 years in exile so now we could see to a certain extent what would happen in the near future,” His Holiness the Dalai Lama said.

Union Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma was the chief guest of the event, and the other dignitaries include BJP general Secretary Shir Ram Madhav, Shri Shanta Kumar, former chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Satyavarath Chaturvedi, Senior spokesperson of Congress, and Shri R K Khrimey, Convenor of Core Group for Tibetan Cause.
The event became even more emotional by the presence of the special guest of honour, Shri Naren Chander Das, the lone survivor of Assam Rifle Troopers who escorted His Holiness in March 1959 onto the sacred soil of India.
“I feel blessed once again as His Holiness touched me and bumped his head with my head,” said Naren Chandra Das, now 80, who escorted the Dalai Lama on his arrival in Arunachal Pradesh. Source / Hindustan Times
