
DHARAMSHALA: A 6-day workshop on Critical, Co-operative and Creative Thinking Skills organised by the Department of Education started today at College for Higher Tibetan Studies (CHTS), Sarah.
Nineteen primary teacher trainees of CHTS and 17 Trained Graduate Teachers from Tibetan schools in India and Nepal are attending the training. The resources persons for the first four days of the workshop – Mr Eric Frangenheim, Ms Margaret Bishop, Ms Jane Moore and Ms Kerry Wright – came from Australia for the second time to expand Tibetan teacher pedagogy and teaching techniques. All are highly experienced in innovative teaching and have extensive expertise in educational training and Australian and international consultancy.
The purpose is to enhance teaching practices in the classroom and add new teaching ideas to the school cultures. These powerful teaching tools and techniques are essential to excellence in education, cooperation and problem solving in the 21st century.
The Education Officers of the Department of Education , Mr Kalsang Wangdu, Ms Tenzin Paldon and Mr Gyaltsen will take individual sessions on educating in mother tongue, inclusive education and collaborative learning system respectively.
