
Dharamshala: The 11th Local Tibetan Assembly of Shimla was formally sworn-in during a ceremony held at the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Handicraft Society.
Out of the seven newly elected members, six virtually took the oath of office, which was duly administered by the Local Tibetan Justice Commissioner of the Northern Region, Choekyi. Among them, Tashi Palden and Dorjee Gyaltsen were elected as the President and Vice President of the Assembly, respectively.
The event was organised by the Regional Tibetan Election Commission, celebrating the continued commitment to Tibetan democratic values. It was attended by several dignitaries representing both governmental and non-governmental organisations.
Prior to the commencement of the formal proceedings, Local Tibetan Justice Commissioner Choekyi conducted a brief legal awareness session.
